NIGHT OWLS / IMMILUMA

Privacy Policy

Updated 2026-09-25 · Night Owls

Who we are

Night Owls operates ImmiLuma, an independent immigration organizer and learning app. We are not USCIS, a government agency, or a law firm. For privacy questions or requests, contact bhuwanenoch@gmail.com.

Information you choose to provide

An account uses your email address, authentication provider and account identifier. Email/password credentials are handled by Firebase Authentication. We also process information you save: receipt numbers, form types, case names, priority dates, immigration categories, country of chargeability, family profiles, notes, dates, checklists and planner items. Private file uploads contain the documents and labels you choose to save. Only add information you have permission to manage.

Local and cloud storage

A guest journey uses protected local storage on your device. Signing in lets you save a separate journey in Firebase. Cloud access rules restrict private records to the signed-in owner; authorized service administration can access data to operate and support the app. Cloud documents are not end-to-end encrypted. Notice text recognition runs on your device. Scanning does not upload a document automatically; saving a file to your account is a separate action. Keep your original records.

Community and public information

Community nicknames, posts and replies are visible to other people, including guests. Do not post receipt numbers, addresses, contact details, identity numbers or private documents. Bookmarks, follows, blocked-member lists and reports are stored to provide those features. Moderators can review reports and take action. Removing a post cannot remove copies or screenshots made by others.

Why we use information

We use your information to provide sign-in, organize and sync your journey, store requested files, manage community participation, deliver requested updates, respond to support requests and prevent abuse. Government news and Visa Bulletin reference data are separate from your private case records. We do not sell your personal information. Advertising in supported versions is described below.

Advertising and privacy choices

Supported versions may show clearly labeled Google AdMob ads in Home, News and Explore. We request non-personalized ads and never include account details, immigration cases, receipt numbers, documents, priority dates, visa categories or searches in ad requests. Google may process IP address and approximate location, device or app identifiers, advertising interactions, performance data and diagnostics for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. Non-personalized ads still involve technical data collection. We do not request access to the iOS advertising identifier, and the Android advertising-ID permission is removed. Required regional consent is handled before requesting ads. Where available, manage your choices in Your space → Ad privacy. Advertising is separate from official information and is not endorsed by USCIS. Google privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Notifications and permissions

Push notifications are optional. If you enable them, we store a device messaging token, language and preference to deliver updates about topics you follow, including USCIS news if you subscribe. Push previews do not contain private case or document details. Your in-app inbox can work without push permission. Camera or file access is used when you choose to scan or attach a document. You can change device permissions in system settings.

Service providers and official websites

Google Firebase and Google Cloud provide authentication, databases, file storage, hosting and messaging. Google or Apple processes sign-in when you choose that provider; Apple and Google deliver device notifications. Providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, device identifiers, request timestamps and security logs, including in countries other than your own. Reference pages are read inside ImmiLuma from saved or retrieved public text. Some interactive government services cannot be provided in the app. We never ask for your USCIS account password. Live personal case-status tracking is not available in this preview.

Your choices and deletion

You can edit or remove your saved cases and planner items. In Your space → Account & data, Clear this workspace removes the current journey, family profiles, notes, checklist progress and saved guides; it does not close your account or delete uploaded documents or community activity. Delete cloud account removes your account, cloud journey, uploaded files and authored community posts and replies, along with account follows and inbox data. Reauthentication is required. Local guest data stays separate and can be cleared on the device.

Retention and recovery

We keep saved information while you use the corresponding features, until you remove it or close the account. Deleted cloud files leave your account immediately; storage recovery copies may remain for up to seven days. Operational logs, moderation audit records and records needed for security, disputes or legal obligations may remain separately for those purposes. Provider backups and recovery processes may also affect final removal. Files you export or share outside ImmiLuma are under the control of their recipient or storage provider.

Privacy requests and family information

Contact bhuwanenoch@gmail.com to request access, correction or deletion, or to ask about privacy rights available where you live. We may need to verify ownership before acting; never email passwords or full immigration documents to establish identity. ImmiLuma is not designed for children to create accounts on their own. Only manage a family member’s information with appropriate authority. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information without that authority.

Changes to this policy

We will update the date on this page when our practices change and provide additional notice when required. Questions about this policy can be sent to Night Owls at bhuwanenoch@gmail.com.
